Transit Fleets

Bus fleets are exposed to the elements and moisture even more than rapid transit services

Consumer research often indicates bus riders do not like the “musty smell” or “odours” on their local bus service. The smells and odours are caused by moulds. Buses are more susceptible to get mould because they are more often picking up passengers coming in straight from the rain – this means more moisture gets on board and creates more of an opportunity for mould to grow and spread into hard to get places under seats, in vents and on seat cushions. Once mould gets established in a bus it is costly to rectify.  A clean and comfortable environment is one of the key considerations for commuters that have other options.

Treated buses can be back in service two hours after the treatment is complete. The Bombardier Antimicrobial Surface Treatment dries quickly and creates a permanent bond to the surface; it is invisible and non leaching.
